Level 4 Diploma- Practical Dental Practice Management without workshops

This Level 4 Diploma aims to develop management competencies for qualified dental professionals or to contextualise the existing management skills of non-dental managers into the dental sector. By undertaking this qualification you will develop an in-depth understanding of the principles of quality management which underpin care quality regulations. As a result, successful candidates will be able to use the regulatory standards as a route to running more efficient, motivated and productive teams - which will result in better patient experiences. This course is awarded by Lifetime Awarding who are an Ofqual regulated awarding organisation . Lifelong Learning provides a range of vocational qualifications to FE colleges, training providers and employers, enabling them to achieve their objectives by offering qualifications that are fit for purpose. 

This qualification focuses on the factual and theoretical concepts of management and leadership within the dental sector. Learners study a range of reasoning and practical skills required to find solutions to routine challenges and specific problems.

Learning prepares individuals to develop self-management skills and skills for the supervision of the routine work of others, and to play a role in audit and evaluation processes for quality management and continuous improvement.

Managing people-centered dental services requires managers to fully understand the needs of their stakeholders. This programme focuses on management and leadership for business performance improvement, self-development, communication and stakeholder expectations. This particular skills set is essential for meeting healthcare quality standards.

This programme is offered through blended learning. 

D&TA provides a wide range of support measures to learners, including bespoke , Skype or telephone tutorials, blended learning – in which learners can select computer-based study options such as home learning, D&TA Community.

Each learner begins their programme with a learning styles assessment to enable them to work with a tutor to select a learning programme best suited to their needs. This will involve choosing from computer-based distance learning, workshop and webinars formats for the delivery of course content. Each student will have an allocated tutor who will mentor them throughout their qualification. Work for marking is uploaded to the D&TA learning hub website, where feedback is posted within two working days.

A tutor will contact you to design your programme.

Learners are required to produce assignments meeting approved standards for the following units:

Unit 1 - Building a Productive Dental Team

Unit 2 - Coordinating Personal and Professional Development

Unit 3 - Dental Team Leadership and Management

Unit 4 - Effective Resource Planning and Management

Unit 5 -  Quality Measurement and Improvement 

A total of 360 hours of VCPD will be credited to this course.


Dental Practice Management Level 4

The minimum age requirement for this course is 18 years.

Students must have:

  • They must have written confirmation from a supervising principle that they take responsibility for overseeing the students training in the workplace.
  • Be self-motivated.
  • Excellent level of English. You must be able to read, write and understand English fluently. Students may be asked to sit an entry test. The results of this will determine your progression through the course.

You will need a computer with internet access to study this course as the study material and activities are accessible via a web browser.

*If workshops are preferred learning option, learners will need to attend five six-hour one to one or group workshops offered at our Wimpole Street Training Centre. This will incur an additional cost.
